About Andy Moralez

E. Andy Moralez, Ph.D., MPH, CHES is a public health expert specializing in community health education and the integration of public health and clinical medicine. He earned his Ph.D. in Health and Behavioral Science from the University of Colorado Denver and an MPH from New Mexico State University. Dr. Moralez has served as a faculty member at the Southern New Mexico Family Residency Program and as a Research Project Lead with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

Dr. Moralez’s research focuses on enhancing patient care and community health through interdisciplinary collaborations with medical anthropologists, social workers, and clinical psychologists. His doctoral research explored how chronic illness severity impacts depression outcomes in primary care settings, particularly among low-income, complex patients. More recently, his clinical research has centered on training family medicine residents in communication strategies for managing chronic pain and incorporating social determinants of health into medical education.

In addition to research, Dr. Moralez has contributed as a program evaluator for diverse public health and clinical initiatives. His work also includes developing extracurricular public health education programs that foster student collaboration with community partners.

Dr. Moralez has published extensively in public health and medical education journals, including Frontiers in Public Health, Journal of Cancer Prevention, Journal of Education and Health Promotion, and the American Board of Family Medicine Journal.
